Chepkwony Tours Ngong, Urges Uniformed Officers to Bank Wisely.
The Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (KDIC) acting Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Hellen Chepkwony, has today paid a courtesy call to Ngong Police Station, as part of KDIC’s strategic engagement with diverse stakeholders in line with its mandate of protecting bank deposits.
In her brief address, Mrs. Chepkwony sensitized police officers at the station on the role of the Corporation in fostering financial stability in the country. She also underscored the stability of Kenya’s banking sector, urging the officers to continue saving their money with all banks that are licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya.
The engagement was part of the Corporation’s initiative to mark this year’s annual Global Money Week celebrations, under the theme “Plan your money, plant your future”.
The theme focuses on sustainability and raising awareness on the implications of individual financial behaviour not only on one's financial future but also on the environment and the society.

During the visit to Ngong, Mrs. Chepkwony also donated to the station umbrellas and notebooks as part of the Corporation’s facilitation in recognition of the service rendered by the uniformed officers.
“It is disheartening to see an officer being rained on while on duty. We desire to change that in our small ways so as to ensure that our officers are comfortable. It is in that spirit that we are here today as KDIC, to donate a few umbrellas to your officers. We believe they will help them during this rainy season as the officers go about their duties,” she said.
Speaking when he received the items, Ngong North Police Commander Abduba Hussein commended the Corporation for the donation of umbrellas noting that it had come in the nick of time.
He urged the Corporation as well other well-wishers, to consider more partnerships, aimed at enhancing the work of the officers as they serve the public.
Mrs. Chepkwony was accompanied by members of the Senior Management, among them Robert Mbarani, Lawrence Shoona, Eunice Kitche and Said Doo.
Over the last two years, the Corporation has supported Mbagathi and Spinal Injury hospitals, as well as Wenje dispensary, through the provision of assorted medical equipment.
