Mohamud Hands Chepkwony Baton in KDIC Leadership Change

Long-serving  Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation Mr. Mohamud A. Mohamud, has formally handed over the office to Mrs. Hellen Chepchumba Chepkwony.

The brief  but colourful ceremony at the Corporation’s  Nairobi offices, was witnessed by the Board and Management. .

Mrs. Chepkwony, a distinguished economist and risk management professional, will serve the state agency in an acting capacity pending recruitment of a substantive office holder.

She was appointed last month by the KDIC Board, following a declaration of the vacancy, upon the statutory expiry of the pioneer CEO’s  two consecutive terms of three years in office.

The Board, through a recruitment agency, is currently receiving applications from suitable and interested candidates for the position of CEO.  

The Corporation is the country’s resolution authority for banks, mandated to promptly resolve problem banks, provide deposit insurance for customers of member institutions and generally ensure financial stability in the banking sector. KDIC protects depositors of banks which are licensed and regulated by CBK.
