Up Close and Candid as KDIC Staff Chat With Their CEO During ‘Hi-Teas’
The Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Mohamud Ahmed Mohamud, has lauded staff for their commitment to duty that has seen the Corporation make significant strides towards fulfilling its mandate. Speaking during this year’s first staff open forum popularly known as “Hi Teas,” the CEO reminded them of the organization’s core values aimed at ensuring all stakeholders are offered quality service.
While reminding them that nobody was perfect, Mr. Mohamud rallied the Corporation’s staff towards confronting their would-be weaknesses saying it was the only way of enhancing their creativity for the betterment of the institution. “Please speak out because no human is perfect. Perfection is for the imperfect. Let us hone our skills to suppress our weaknesses,” said Mr. Mohamud.
He added that it was imperative for staff to meet their set targets as part of the Corporation’s commitment to enhancing service delivery. “Let us be prompt in achieving our targets. We should not procrastinate. I urge you to always strive to deliver excellent service to our stakeholders,” he pointed out.
The forum was punctuated by light moments with Mr. Mohamud declaring that the KDIC ‘spacecraft’ had taken off in earnest and will not be distracted by the current desert locusts invasion in some parts of the country. “This place is our home. We spend more time here than our actual homes. Let us continue to forge ahead in spite of the locusts invasion, Tsunami, whatever the case,” said Mr. Mohamud amid laughter from his team.
Welcoming the initiative the staff who spoke commended Management for the forum terming it a step in the right direction.
Mary Jillo, a Procurement Officer, said: “The forum was quite interactive and informative. At least I now know the strategic direction of the organization. The staff opened up and that was quite encouraging. I was excited to listen to the CEO and get feedback. This should be encouraged.”
“I liked the fact that people volunteered excellent brilliant ideas because it was an equal platform,” observed Christine Ruoro, who works in the department of Finance. Her sentiments were echoed by Mary Kiragu, Internal Auditor Deputy General Manager, who opined that the forums would help the Corporation enhance a positive culture.
For Javan Ndonga, Assistant Manager, Finance, the timing of the staff open forum was quite apt. “This forum was much better compared to the previous one. The CEO’s address was quite timely and spot on,” he concluded.
The “Hi Tea” is part of the organization’s strategic and deliberate approach to enhance transparency and create a conducive environment for a highly productive and motivated staff, while fostering a bottom-up communication strategy for the betterment of the institution. The forums are conducted twice every quarter.
