KDIC Staff Sensitized on QMS to Improve Service Delivery

At least 95% of the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation staff have been trained on Quality Management System (QMS) aimed at enhancing service delivery in line with strategic direction of the Corporation.
The four-day workshop here in Nairobi saw the staff taken through all QMS-ISO 9001:2015- requirements as part of initiatives that are geared towards ensuring all KDIC’s operations are aligned to international best practices.
The staff commended Management for the workshop saying it was the much needed ‘antidote.’ The team expressed their desire to continue taking part in such training for the betterment of the institution.
The Corporation’s Senior Legal Officer Titus Ranja said that the training was an eye opener. “I had never been exposed to QMS before. I found it extremely beneficial. Being taken through QMS and getting to know how it applies to continued improvement of the organization was edifying,” he summarized.
Echoing Ranja’s sentiments was Odline Chanya, Human Resource and Administration. Odline said: “I found it absolutely exciting. I will apply QMS in records management.”
Others who shared their views were Dorcas Wanjala (Resolutions Manager) and Hadija Mohamed (Resolutions Officer).
“I found the training quite informative especially how the standards have evolved in the current ISO 9001:2015. It was inclusive and fits into the Corporation’s strategic plan, vision and mission. The clauses resonated well with my specific role in resolution and for sure I will continue to familiarize myself with QMS,” said Dorcas.
“My take home was the seven principles of QMS especially given the fact that this was alien to me. I must say this was thoughtful for the organization,” observed Hadija.
The workshop on QMS was attended by KDIC Senior Management as well as staff from other cadres.
The exercise was conducted by Food and Quality Assurance International Limited in conjunction with the office of Strategy and Compliance through the Human Resource department.
Deputy General Manager in charge of Strategy and Compliance Lawrence Lein observed that the training on QMS had greatly impacted staff capacity. “The training has gone a long way in adding impetus towards the conformity with all the applicable standard requirements,” he concluded.
